Your depiction of battles us is superb, would love to read about secondary battles especially with regards to the weapons supplied by Alexander.

I like this writing to describe secondary battles, as it makes it sound more like an after report of the battle, which would make more sense, as the main character was not there and it would diminish the main character attention. I'd say endless its main character or one of his important general's, this secondary method of writing for battles can be used in its place instead of every detail like Alexander's as then it would be repetitive and make it boring, so when you finally get to Alexander's side fighting people might start to lose interest endless they are really,really interested.

As secondary battle its not really necessary to describe it in huge detail.
