What’s so dumb about outing Peter Parker’s identity as Spider-Man: It’s the only thing holding him back from being Spider-Man full time. Without a secret identity, he has nothing to anchor him to a normal life. He will have to abandon all connections to his former life. He can now do away with all stealth and just start wrecking stuff. It would be the same as outing Clark Kent’s identity as Superman. That’s one of the worst things you could do. Clark Kent’s reporter job keeps him occupied at a minimum of 40 hours per week of working. Imagine Superman with no civilian job, no need to sleep, and his civilian life cut off. He’d be devoted to only hero work. That’s a nightmare for villains.
