From what i've been reading the transformation doesn't make you slow, Trunks just took it too far and exchanged speed for power, the regular Ascended form's real drawback is that it drains the user of energy really quickly, kind of like the SSJ3 would, which against someone with infinite ki is bad news
He could have prevented super 13 from appearing if he simply fought 13 seriously from the start. And why is he still not as strong as his counterpart who fought during cell games. When that gohan had transformed into Super Saiyan for only 1 year and this gohan has the transformation for 2 years and he is still not close to that power.
I'm quite torn about this mini arc. On one hand, we had the jaw-dropping fights between Android 17 and 18 versus Gohan. I actually liked this fight, even though it was short. Not because Gohan won easily, but instead because it made sense. For once, Gohan used his advanced knowledge and tactics to win the battle. He forced the androids to underestimate him and went straight for the jugular. It was quick and deadly. When power levels are that evenly matched, every attack can be deadly. This makes sense. On the other hand, the battle with 13 felt forced. This particular fight was obviously staged because of the plot. Don't get me wrong; the issue is not the fight itself, but the steps taken to get there. The battle would have been more organic if it had started with Super 13 from the beginning because the supercomputer detected that Android 17 and 18 were easily defeated. Therefore, the computer fused their androids before anything else could happen. This would have given the fight more realism and justification. Instead, Gohan acted out of character to force the outcome. He was cocky and overconfident, holding back for no reason, especially because he was angry at all the unnecessary massacres. Furthermore, he knew about Android 13's abilities, yet he did nothing to avoid this outcome. He didn't use telekinesis to hold the other two androids or teleportation to kill the remaining android. He didn't even use cloning to hold the two remains separately
