Not bad. I think people are just overacting. It's not really cringe per se, just that the author was inserting himself in the story intead of writing a character. Happens to all of us writers in the begining. It is quite hard to write character who are nothing like ourselves so our natural seeting is to base ourselves as the MC. Though I am sure the author had fun when he wrote this. Reminds me of my first fanfic.š
