Hey I know this is a fictional story, in a world where someone has a chemical accident, and ends up gaining super ppders because of it, or something. But evolution doesn't work like that, evolution works like this: we are all born with genes similar to our ancestors, but we can also have mutations, but you won't have a mutation just because you're in a complicated situation to live. It's actually quite simple, those who are most likely to live in a difficult environment to live in, are the most likely to find another partner with high "standards" just like them, and raise the next generation that will have their genes. So if you throw a lot of people in a difficult ambient to live in, they won't adapt and pass it on to the next generation, everyone will die, who would stay alive, it's the ones who already had a predisposition to survive in that place, they just never needed to use. At least that's how I understood the theory of evolution to work.
