this story seems good so far. The test that they do at the end of this camp is probably the test the professor's use to choose the candidates for the three Royal starters. I'm interested to see how much you're going to flesh out the test and the camp in the story. as most authors don't really flesh it out much and completely skim over it. to be honest though I think the test is kind of rigged. think about in game/anime the protagonists or their rivals are either the son of the professor or their grandson or something and most candidates are close acquaintances who are from well off families. which just reeks of nepotism to me. But the test still probably exists to give the illusion that to the common people that they could possibly get their hands on one of the Royal starters and because it's part of some old tradition. so to give the illusion that it's fair. but in reality it's probably not and only time a common person gets one of these Royal starters is when they didn't have a third person picked out. if he does really well on the test despite it being possibly rigged against him they might still give him a starter but it just won't be a royal starter. it'll probably be something else that might be pretty rare or even shiny to appease him. although again this is just all my opinion.
