so what happens in this game world clearly affects the real world since it gives people superpowers, right? also, the so-called NPCs of this world have internal thoughts and emotions and feelings just like a real living being, even going so far is to warn each other about the incoming players such as the ferry in the beginning of the story. so are the players simply controlling an avatar on a different planet?

I feel like there's alot of info dumps so far, and alot of tell not show.
