Going to put my money and doubt that that Narx will go bond with 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 even with his scale back lol. Watch as Veah’s breaking of bond be more painful towards Narx than the actual severing of a true bond. she is just going to die while he becomes a sad bachelor miser non-speaking kaideon 2.0 and The Keep will forever be guilty of fking their king’s guard up

Literature 101 - the unreliable narrator. What the character says might not always be 100% truth. I’m sorry veah, as awesome as you are, I honestly doubt anybody can truly claim to know somebody fully. It’s too arrogant a claim. At this point, Veah’s reaction is very obv traumatic instinct to shield and wall herself. What she is feeling the past few days is honestly more emotions than she has allowed herself to be vulnerable to for her entire life, so I can see her flight or fight instinct kicking in and wanting to literally dig out the very thing causing her all these feelings - his scale. This almost tunnel vision train of thought of not even hearing him out or entertaining any alternative - “he might not know yet” or “even if he doesn’t, he is just convincing himself otherwise” - you can literally hear the trauma speaking. The mind is frantically latching onto a finality of worst case scenario to protect itself - coming to terms with the worst in advance is a trauma response the mind thinks is “better” because it gives the frazzled brain stability and comfort in the certainty of knowing “nothing can get worse than this now”. She can no longer sense Narx’s emotions, so she doesn’t know what he truly feels. She claims that she is interpreting the pain from his scale is a sign of wavering, but why can’t it be a sign of his agony of having to disgustingly react to someone like adri, and anger at the absurd fate that his love for her is ironically causing her pain? entire Keep including Everon has said this matter is unprecedented and there’s so much they don’t understand about the backlash, so forgive me if I think Veah’s to claim to know for sure might not be 100% rooted in facts but based on what she feels. All I’m seeing is she bravely tried her best to hold on in this uncertainty and what obv is yet another cruel attempt by fate to get at her, but she let go a little too prematurely due to her instincts to protect herself.

My money is Xenon if she gives him a chance if not him then I want her to shine by herself
