Not only does it fit with Jiren's personality, as he let Goku attack him a bit in the tournament of power, only using his ki-infused glare when he could have easily beat Goku in an instant, it's a nice change from the usual over-the-top prideful MC who kills someone for looking at him wrong or the extreme pacifist who will try and befriend someone who had tried to kill them and their loved ones for no apparent reason or, for transmigrates, are hypocritical and will give people more or less chances depending on whether or not they are a MC of the world.
