The god described the path to power in detail and only one path fit him. It was to fly solo and take, take it all. His morals are what is making this path so difficult, because it's one of the sacrifices he must make on God's path. God must be entertained. If he isn't and follows a different path, he won't accomplish the path to power. God will ensure he doesn't.
MC is wrong. You should not be addicted to anything in your life. It is good to eat delicious food. But if you eat too much you will become fat. If you sleep to much you will become weak and fragile. If you drink to much you will become sick. So being strong is good but you should not be addicted to strength. Because strength does not solve everything. And by being obsessed by it you will be the tool. And one more thing. Do not kill innocents. They have nothing to do with you not with your revenge. You can kill soldiers in a war if they not surrender but can not kill citizens until they become your enemies.
