there is definitely going to be some nobles who will try and pick a fight with faith later. also thanks for the chapter and keep up the great work đ
Now I'm really curious about the society and situation in those megacities. If there are really millions living in a single city there will also have to be thousands of nobles. Also if there really was never one with an idea like Faith's here, even with millions of people then there must truly be a lot of oppression. Kinda makes me question the King's competence given the attitude Adel speaks with here.
Okay so this my understanding as to why Faith's idea has never been thought of before 1. the problem of doing this on a large scale. You have to remember there are millions upon millions of people in this kingdom so doing this large scale meant the kingdom would burn through money to do this without any real return on the investment anytime soon but if it is successful the return would be massive. Basically it's a gamble to do this quickly and it would likely take years before they see the benefits of this. They would have to do this rather slowly over several years for this idea to be feasible. 2.Then there is the problem of manpower if this kingdom doesn't have general education then it's likely that most people in this kingdom have little to none knowledge about reading, writing, and magic in general. That means it's mostly known known only to nobles and wealthy merchants. Given that books should be fairly difficult to find. So this means the teachers at these schools would have to be nobles, so good luck convincing nobles to teach commoners anything. 3. then it's about control. It's easy to control the ignorant masses since they don't know any better but if the commoners are intelligent instead it becomes incredible difficult to deal with millions of people that won't do what they are told without a good reason to do it. 4. Finally it's about increase of competition for noble with the commoners no longer ignorant and geniuses being found it'll become incredible easy to replace the nobles with smarter and better choices for the king. At that point the only advantage the nobles have would be their wealth and blood line that gives them power if the could not consistently create geniuses that are superior to the commoners they would likely lose all their authority and stop being nobles Essentially the current system is exactly what the nobles want it's puts them on a pedestal where commoners that they don't choose to give their knowledge to would never be able to match them in any situation. Take Faith as an example without the knowledge about magic she gained from her parents that had a strong background she would have never been a threat to the other kingdom's army.
Thank you for the chapter. A wise and sensible king makes a kingdom prosper, well i wouldnt mind the gravos kingdom taking over multiple countries to become an empire. As long as the king doesnt back-stab in the end, however based on what was provided i would think that he was sensible enough to not do that...[img=update][img=update][img=update]
