After everything hes gone through your just chucking him as a random gym leader in some unimportant town/village? may aswell change the title of the story with the direction your taking it has to answer to the league and look after a town thats not a hunter at all.

Hope he has this gym specialize in Dark-type pokemon! "Dark city gym specializing in dark type pokemon", it might be on the nose but definitely makes more sense then specializing in another type. Plus I'm pretty sure that gym specializations should not overlap with an existing official gym which basically restricts him to the Dark, Ice, Normal, Fighting, Flying, Steel, Fairy & Ghost types. Given the rarity & small pool of Fairy, Steel, & Ghost types in Kanto & Johto as well as him not having any on his team I automatically removed them from consideration. In addition I really want him to get a Tyranitar for his team. Other optional dark types I like for his team are Drapion, Houndoom, Umbreon, Krookodile, Spiritomb, & Honchkrow. (Maybe that Sinnoh egg he got from the S.S. Anne competition hatches into 1 of their pre-evolved forms?)

isnt the gym too small like 2 basket ball courts would barely support 2 onixs fighting
