If they are about to scan him for his soul, a sane person would check the health of other parts, there shouldn't be reason why they don't notice the tumour soon. Also if they are going to blatantly tell him that they're cultivators, why did they keep him in the dark? Only tell him once he turns 50 but the young siblings get to cultivate?
