Another thing that I am confused is the daily points he gets from his marine rank. For chore boy it was 10, right? But then he jumped directly into first seasmen and the daily only increased to 20. That is a too little I think? After all if it was apreantice then I can agree. But he was first class.... and now he is even a petty officer. Shouldn't he still get daily points from his rank given that he is currently doing his job(even if it is a cp type of job instead of marine)?
Ah yes, but in regards to that there a specific "Paid Leave" task, which is why he got free daily points. Otherwise he'd need to complete tasks. And yes as you said at higher ranks the missions would typically just be to guard a region. He had similar missions in Stork Town which I didn't go into too much detail about where he simply patrolled.

That means that he should also be getting some kind of salary points each month from his rank. Another way to look at it is that realistically only very low ranks(like chore boy) can get daily missions. The higher ranks(like chief petty oficer and up) usually are only assigned a region and order of procedure. That's it. If we turn that into a daily mission then that would mean that ran will get only one for most of his rank. For example " go protect orange village region" "you will protect sea route A of the south sea". The only exceptions would be if he is given a direct order to hunt someone specific or escort someone or something. And if we go even higher it gets even worse. Just look at the admirals. Most of them are stationed in the HQ waiting for orders and not getting any for months. Or look the fleet admiral. He doesn't even get outside the HQ. His not participating in any combat. Her is just doing paper work and management. While doing daily mission for points is a good idea for low ranks with each promotion that way of getting points will get harder and harder. I think there should be opened another route for getting points at some point. For example the officer ranks(ensign and up) will get montly salary. Or the marine rank will act as a multiplier for the mission rewards. The higher the rank the bigger the multiplier is. Or there could be "minion" gain. Like if rak has comand over a ship then he will get some points for each daily missions that the crew is doing(like getting points from all the chore boys and seasmen that are doing their tasks). Or something else if you want.
What I like here is that he's moving up step by step in the navy, starting at the base. It's really refreshing to see his journey growing as a sailor, unlike other fanfics of this type where the Protagonist catches Garp's eye, goes to elite training ground and when he leaves he's already a navy commodore, I hope his rise in the ranks be it something that takes years, you don't become an Admiral in 1 or 2 years, by the way what is his current timeline?
Actually we(the readers) dont know if rak is weak or strong. We usually know his stats number, but we don't know anyone else stats (and skills) so realistically we don't have anyone to compare rak to. If we don't have a base to compare rak to then how can we know or say that ran is either weak, average, strong, elite, genius, monster, etc.?
.... and now that I mentioned cp I gotta ask why was the job given to a marine instead of them? After all the Marines are the face of the world goverment while the cipher pol are the ones doing all the dirty jobs. Infiltration and assassination is their kind of specialization.... unless rak is given the mission as a hidden test to see if he is qualified to be put in cp? Who knows. After all there are not only cp0 and cp9. There are also cp1-8. Maybe he will start from there? Could be interesting if the cp are allowed to train the marine six.
...... why do I have the feeling that he will find out about it from garp recruiting him alongside Cody?........ or conscripting him for the marineford war?[ would he? When he finished the mission he will become master chief petty officer(unless he gets some bonus for the record time finishing the task. Seriously the higher ups wanted him to just kill 1 captain for 2 weeks. Instead he will kill 4 captain for the same time) and given you said "some time after" I will assume that he will have enough time to become ensign before the timeline is revealed. So yeah it is possible to recruit an ensign(official officer rank) for the war]
