If it's not because of her husband's wish, she wouldn't have left little Robin in order to sail and seek for truth. So, it could be said that her husband is more of an archaeologist than her or they are both. Maybe they're a childhood friend. I don't know how you will proceed with your ff once the Enies Lobby Arc arrived because you already made her husband, now Rob in this ff, into a pirate, but I hope you the best in your ff and don't make too many plot holes. I hope you won't be like those other author's who always used the overused phrase 'AU this, AU that' and instead show to us your readers a reasonable explanation in your story.
