The way I see it, he was corrupted by the Demon Of Greed Core. This means the very idea of becoming perfect wasn't his but someone else. The novel is very good the way everything was going but I feel like he came short since he was just another infected by the Demon of Greed. He would have been PERFECT if the hardship in the war was what truly changed him not the possession and the Greed Demon memories.
