I wonder how things would have gone, if Saddam had asked for aid from the Soviets instead of the Americans. Especially in the matter of Afghanistan. He couldn't simply ask Brezhnev to stop the war, could he? So, now will the Soviets hold over Afghanistan till their breakover, or even if Afghanistan gets rid of the Soviets, there never will be a global Jihadist movement?
