I don't really know a lot about soul land, but from what I know it is better to have a soul spirit for each of the soul rings, or else Tiang Meng (the worm that help him) wouldn't search other spirit beasts to bound with Huo Yuhao, so I think it would be better if you give him a soul spirit for each soul ring.
