Its funny how she's blaming Penny C for messing up her life when she was doing the same to herself in her own world. But that's the thing..they were both able to see the other's life from an outsider's perspective and see exactly what's wrong and take corrective measures. When you're in the middle of something, being a part of it and tied to the situationin various ways, you can't see the whole big picture clearly and it's not easy to cut yourself off from the situation and think differently. This swap saved both their lives from going down.
