It arouses some questions: 1) Why is he an immortal? 2) How much time his loved ones have died? 3) When did he find out his power or what caused his power, ‘cause he was a trash? 4) last, but not the least, what will happen with him as he forgot his past? I really hope you continue this novel, dear Author!

I’d probably be like that if I was immortal. Living longer than the ones you love would be depressing.

Immortality isn't horrifying or anything and neither do you need to suffer from depression or apathy for eternity. This is because although you will live past everyone you know, you will always meet newer people. If lovers or family members die than accept that, that is how life is and it is inevitable especially when your immortal. Death is natural for normal living beings so you should already have mentally prepared for such an occurance. So it shouldn't really cause you go into a depression. Here, his actions of wanting to forget everything and never remember is nothing but disrespectful to those he met and lived with previously, instead of accepting it and remembering them in his heart forever while he moves on. He chooses to forget everything because he is mentally weak as he doesn't seem to be able to handle their deaths even after such a long time has past. If you have an eternity to learn then why not learn everything, there's no doubt that you may be able to resurrect them with magic you created. Though I would advise against as the dead should stay dead in some cases like this. Seeing the world and everything it has to offer, watching as it changes, meeting a variety of interesting people, and doing self study or even creating your own leagacy just to see how it affects the world. There's also the fact that you can toughen your heart like in cultivation novels,they classify it as the dao heart. All of these are the beauty of immortality.
