While many of us compliment Harry on his wise interception and advice, we can all learn to be more like Harry, myself included. First of all, he heard her out even though he knows what happened already. Harry did not judge Lu after he heard from her. He also didn't side either Tom or Lu, but gave an unbiased opinion of the situation. No forcing down his opinion or labeling anyone. He took time to patiently listen to her, joked with her, helped her to see things from a different perspective etc. He has the best interest in mind for the both of them, hoping that Tom n Lu will continue to be strong together. In short, let's all be like Harry here. đ
Hasn't what is happening to Lucy happened to some of us who have had to deal with childhood trauma? We want to love and be loved but also protect the small child inside us that was hurt. Our first reaction is flight then fight. We keep thinking everyone is out to hurt us and we better protect ourselves by running away than get heartbroken. We do or say something and the next minute it hits us that our defenses to avoid getting hurt are up and try to do amends. It takes a lot of courage and working on ourselves to not think of running away from getting hurt by the people we love. She will get there eventually. I did! She is not selfish, it's all she knows how to do for now.
