I’m assuming that Soren has found a way to leverage the fact that THEY’RE made of magic to brute force certain magical effects, like sleeping spells and barriers. It always seemed weird to me that heretics could use their own inf battery of magical power all they wanted but the originals (especially Kol and Finn) couldn’t figure anything out in 1000 years. Especially Kol, since he was awake for the majority of that time and obsessed with magic.

The chapter starts with him wanting to put fear through the heart of the other vampires yet he lets himself gets captured and tortured by 100 years old vampires ? It was good that you dropped this novel after this chapter.
