I've had an odd thought because I refuse to believe Gavrael is gone in his entirety. All of the dark magic transferred to Onyx, but a large part of Gavrael's essence was his dark magic. Is it possible that Gavrael's soul (as it were) could also have been transferred? It would not be the same having him blend with Gavriel into one person and Evie may never be aware of this happening, but Gavrael would be able to continue loving and protecting Evie for as long as a dragon will live. I don't know. I'm just grasping at straws because I don't want to give Gavrael up entirely. He needs to continue to exist in some form.
