First, just want to say I'm enjoying the story so far, keep up the good work! I do hope to see more use of the ability to turn into a spear! I want to provide a short pyrotechnics lesson real quick though since the story's world doesn't seem to follow the same laws put in place in reality. A fire CAN be lit in a cold environment. As long as their is a fuel source, oxygen, and ignition (a spark), you will get combustion (fire). Sparks can be made in a cold environment (via flint and steel). A spark is created through friction super heating steel flakes to about 5,500 degrees (F). Just want to put that fact out there since in the story the MC can't light a fire due to it being cold. And that's your pyrotechnics lesson for the day 🤓
