Nice thoughts on the topic of patriarhy. My two cents on the topic are that this is the most effective way to keep civilisstion thriving. All of the great empires and nations were based on positions and ranks, people usually don’t see it and nowadays point gender discrimination, while the topic is just a part of a much bigger whole. Is a medieval peasant (male) more privileged the a woman from the nobility. Would say “no”, it is a class system, not a gender based one. Does a nobleman more “free” then a noble woman, maybe, if he is of equal status. But they also have different obligation as well. So all have it’s pluses and minuses in terms of gender roles, yet it’s always better to be of higher status. Before the industrial revolution males were usually doing really hard manual labor, one could say “back-breaking” and no sane person would want that to himself, from the comfort of own sofa may sound “liberating” but the daily chores never end on top of the work. Also, there was a study showing that nearly 90% of all women lived on earth managed to reproduced, while around 15-20% of the males. If we consider that as a “triving” criteria, women are more successful in our society, despite their position in it- be it good or bad.
Who do you think is more feminist? Ogoro or Sheyla? I think it's a tough one. Sheyla is obviously falling for all the feminist points, may they be true or not. But Ogoro is just as bad in my opinion, with the exception of him accepting that perhaps a women loving a man isn't a bad thing. Also small side note. No matter how attractive Sheyla is, I would never date and marry her. She is mentally way too unstable and she holds to an ideology which in my opinion is pretty destructive to the concept of nuclear family, a good and stable wife and a good mother. And I guess the author created a good chapter here. It created a lot of emotional responses. Which is the point of being an artist.
