Ellena would be evil no matter what Gewen told her back then. Because she is an awful human. I hope she doesn’t try to hurt Gewen when he declines to help her. And he better not help her or I’ll tell Emmelyn and she will kick his rear.
No, here's why. She always had a thing for Mars once she hit that age of understanding. All Gwen mentioned was finding someone more powerful and rich than her father; he never mentioned Mars and as Emmelyn proved, Ellena could have traveled and met a distant prince or king. Ellena just figured based on Gwen's comment and her budding attraction to Mars, she would take her shot and he was the easiest/quickest option. I mean, if we take this thought process, wouldn't Mars be equally responsible for Ellena's actions seeing he made a pact with her to marry her without intimacy and then adopting one of his nephews to make it seem they had a child together? He made her believe through that pact and knowledge that he could not touch women that she was guaranteed the queen status. Fact is, even if Ellena had a chance at one point in her life, when she ran off to Thelassis (?) to "break the curse" even though Mars asked her not to, she negated any chance to be with him and it just so happen that Emmelyn's curse canceled out Mars. So, no, all this lies at her feet because she could have stopped before killing Mars mom, but she didn't. She could have stopped from framing Emmelyn and triggering Harlow's premature birth, but she didn't. Hasta LA Vista LOSER!
