God!!! I truely feel sorry for Elise and Emmelyn too. Didn’t Elise know all this drama from her Grandmother that Maxim didnt want to marry her and had all this bitter feelings for her. Foolish girl!!! Why would you agree to marry him. Also Emmelyn suffered for no reason at all. when Maxim found out that he was betrothed he had not met Emmelyn then. Why couldnt he have a little curiosity towards his fiancee, and if he had come to see Elise than, None of it would have happened.

Maxim is every bit a victim in this as is Emmelyn. Why should he carry any guilt in this?! It belongs to the mothers that did it.

I’d say he he fell in love with Emme first and that’s why he avoided his betrothed.
