Yes I'm the same and they also seem to think they only should be given good reviews and comments. 1 review under 3 stars with indepth reason and they have a rage moment demanding it be taken down, but the 5 or more copy pasted/emoji only ones they think their the next best saler. Then you have low quality edited mtl/translations for "practice" but they never go back to fix mistakes and instead pump out chapter after chapter. This just makes me mad that trash like that can be in the top 30 in the rankings. Sorry for the rant but I got very happy to know I'm not crazy and that others also think the current stuff is droping in quality.

The sad reality is that lot of fan fiction get abandoned without a warning, good or bad all the same, that's why long fanfic are pretty popular in my eyes, thanks for the chapter.

To me, this and Nascent Kalaidescope are the only really good ones that are being updated. Ilios: Sun of Hope had me really excited but the author disappeared before it got anywhere.

Any serious and committed author hardly would consider to pursue fanfiction as their creative pot, thus the existence of trashy fanfictions. They would rather do an original, copyrights and revenue as one of the reason and more challenge for their craft as the other.

Fanfictions are generally worse because nearly anyone can write them. Some are just a rehash of the original story with nothing changed at all but an added character or personality shift. And then you combine that with chinese websites that promote trash work due to robots spamming 5 stars... and here we are.
