Im not really understanding why Azel went all crazy at the end either. She just lost her whole personality of trying to solve things and went to battle. and ren didnt even point out the agrestral thing and they didnt even acknowledge that Azemo was the emperor even though he talked about killing the dragon. If they knew he was the emperor they may have been able to work things out because they have the common ground of being from the same world. But Azel went nuts so nah. also how does the book end there wouldnt Azemos friends want to kill the heroes... its clear that Ren doesnt die because he talkS to his future self. does he kill Kaede when she goes to get revenge? does it just not matter now?
Idk if you want the answers for all questions, but I will give you a couple. First Azel, I was trying to hint at an over all hate for things perceived as "evil", derived from the death of her parents (murdered by gangsters) which I only left vague clues about. Looking back, I realize that I should have explored more of her character since she had such an important role in the end. Second, since I ended the book pretty suddenly, I wanted to leave a lot of open ends so the story can really go the way you want. I even left a few things that could give someone the tools to argue that Azemo is still alive, but that is besides the point. The story was always going to end this way, but I did not take the best path to the end. This is mostly because I was really struggling to write and I wanted to make sure to at least put out the ending I envisioned when I could. Thank you for being such an attentive reader, I hope my ramblings were at least a little interesting :)
