Dexterity- skill when performing tasks, especially with the hands. The dexterity stat shouldn’t really increase ones speed. Did you perhaps mean Agility- the ability to move quickly and easily. It’s a common mistake. I’m honestly really enjoying this so far. That just stuck out to me. Most characters in stories like this take awhile to adapt to their surroundings, so it’s interesting to see a character who immediately realizes what’s happening and readies himself to survive in a changed world.
