What's troubling about harems are their sheer size. Eventually it becomes a collection of women, rather than anything even remotely romantic. At this point in time, a huge part of the plot becomes consumed by trying to advance the harem. Harems done right are usually limited in the size of the 'harem'. 2 or 3 maximum! I don't mind if there's a harem in the future but harems tend to be a slippery slope for authors!
