I don't care that people were complaining about this forced quest. For me, it is what has made this novel more interesting. For a very long time, it seemed like the novel lacked an overarching plot or questline for our main characters to go through. That is, it was all the same boring, repetitive events of cultivation, progression and reaching the next stage. Now this quest adds elements of intrigue, suspense and something to look forward to. Even if it is "forced" or "mechanically introduced", it still makes this novel less bland and a lot more intriguing.
