this is so, so dumb. The author goes at lenght hammering how dumb the crew was and survival of the smart and whatever, when in any case they would die, no matter what they did.

This is so stupid and forced. One of the richest and most powerful families in the world is tracking down Atlantis and knows the Black Snake Gang is also after it BUT they only send one ship with no military power? In reality they would send a GROUP of ARMED ships and would make sure no random gang could outgun them. They act way too dumb and naive in the novel. No family could grow so powerful without knowing how to protect themselves.
