I dislike when an author cripples the intelligence of characters for the sake of trying to make the mc look cool. That 'ambush' was pathetic, the literally just showed up and said they were on MCs side and expected this immensely cunning plan to work... Also there was some rapid gender swapping with a character going from 'her eyes' to 'his eyes' in 2 sentences.
