No, I don't agree when people say he is stupid for antagonizing the princess. The princess had already called him trash, meaning he is already at the worst state in her eyes. Even if he did that to the princess, it cannot be anymore worse. In fact, acting all chummy with her after being called trash will just show that the MC is a coward and a simp, not intelligent and I will be disappointed instead if that happens. I like how it had gone. Also, MC is also only human and will get angry. I fully sympathize with him on this and feel that even if he is smart, he has the right to be angry. Reposting to edit.
