Stupid reason to cause trouble

So almost half his family did something that caused them to die and that caused the King to lose his mind. It makes sense and it sucks because I think before this he generally was a good person. As a result of that, part of me thinks that this is all BS and the king is putting on an act. An act which will cause all the elfs to rally against him and thus rally behind his daughter Faelyn. Then that will cause all the elves to move to the World Tree in unison without as much disorder and descension as there would have been. By bringing them all together he is saving more lives then he took when he was fighting the Supreme elder.
