Legion, as many budding authors, coming with experience and inspiration from Computer games … would be more careful using slang from there. ‘Tank’ some hit or damage won’t be understood properly for someone who doesn’t play RPG games. Even in them its relitively modern usage, as old school were ‘front line’ or the medieval term / title shield bearer. The other usage of the word means ‘to sink’ as sinking ship which have no relevance to taking hits on purpose.
