I am starting to question their ability to plan a defense, if they knew an assault like this was coming I think they should have put a bit more effort in, put all the students and defenders in one spot, build a massive fucking fortress on top of a mountain and just rain hellfire and brimstone off the side for a week or two. they have been assaulted for years in a row and never thought to just go overkill on the defence? if they can bypass magical barriers then make fucking massive physical ones

well let them all die, loved the ruthless derk lith...how he is now is just annoying. the reason the story was so good and captivating was his ruthlessnes and darkside and that he has no feelings for anyone....now you have every 3 chapters the nagging of solus and co.

I've been pushing all 5 power stones of mine everyday into this novel. Now it ranks 2.

Why everyone think that Protector will die? Yeah, he is poisoned, but it’s not like it can’t be fixed - even good fake mage can deal with it. About defense plan: they couldn’t create countermeasures because they didn’t know. They could only use data from previous years to estimate probability of some events, but variations are too many, and they haven’t enough manpower to cover all of them (if it’s even possible). Balkor is not a fool too, so he adapts and trying to predict their countermeasures - and more successfully for now. The chapter felt a bit short because most of the events are not about Lith and co, but at least it’s the beginning of Lith fight (also an option for Lith “to become Awakened” officially, but that’s only my guess)
