Cant believe it's finally over. One of my favourite novels. So much difference compared to usual chinese novels types. A lot more introspective and such a fulfilling story. Overall it deserves a solid 9/10 there's some parts I would change but only guess that would just be personal preferences. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone as you can see the characters lives as they grow and it has actual plot and side characters which aren't 2D. Really going to miss reading this. Wish there were more like it :'( BTW awesome job done by the translators and editors, it feels like an actual book rather than a translation and I love it.
I can't believe this story is finally finished. I wasn't able to keep up with it towards the end because so much was going on irl, but at the same time, I'm glad I could just read through the last arc in one sitting. It's crazy. I'll miss this story so much. Finishing it is so bittersweet. I'm kind of glad that Juho was able to finally move on. That his goal went from moving away from his past life's mistakes to just. Living. He focused so much on his death for so long, and despite not writing about it since finishing Wol's book, the fact that it was still consuming him... It's really great that at that pivotal moment, he could identify that he truly wanted to live. Thank you so much for your wonderful work. I can't imagine how difficult it must've been, but I'm very grateful to the two of you for bringing this story to us with such care. It's definitely opened my eyes up to a lot of things. Thank you so much. I'm happy to hear that there will be a new project, and I trust your judgement on the quality of it, haha. Congratulations, you guys. Amazing work.
It finally ended!! I don't really feel like the ending is rushed, though there was an aburpt change from the point when it suddenly jumps from Juho in twenties to Juho in fourties. Juho finally getting over his 'trauma' makes me truly happy. Kinda sad that he didn't marry but I did expect it somehow... Juho and romance doesn't exactly go together, he's kind of too calm for romance? (especially after his story about bug-eating kid). I really really loved the story, and never once thought about dropping it. Thank you translator and editor for your hard work!!!
It's kinda heavy ending. I think it would be more digestible by introducing female character as his wife even if there's no obvious romance. Even though he survived and became great , it's hard for me to love his character when he's so lonely (almost pathetic ,but that's to much when you think about his accomplishments as writer that many would be envious of) .
I accidentally fell asleep last night so I'm late, but Thank you ShawnSuh and SootyOwl for this journey of a novel. Ever since I found this around chapter 30 I've been here almost every day and I really enjoyed reading this and for half a year, this novel was the highlight of my day. I'll probably spend the next months or two re-reading.
Thank you for your translations!! I'm glad that Juho was able to become confident in his own writing (honestly took him long enough), but at the same time, the change feels so sudden. Actually, the latter part of the story starting from the 20-year time skip felt rushed and a bit nonsensical to me. Overall, I liked it a lot, even though there were times that it just felt pretentious. I'm not sure if it's because I'm just a lowly being who doesn't know the workings of an artist's mind
