At this point I feel like the reason Jim did this isn't for Sarah, but because he is a coward trying to save his own skin because he believed the colony can't win. I think that's the true reason he wanted to run away, and he was just using Sarah a a way to mask that. Don't get me wrong though I'm not saying he doesn't care about Sarah just that he wants to protect his own skin at all cost
Didn't see that one coming, but now that it's there, I feel like I should have. The signs were there. I guess I got so used to the unwavering loyalty of the ants that I stopped considering betrayal. But I have to admit, though I obviously can't agree with Jim's actions, I really love it story-wise. Unexpected, realistic, genius. I hope Crinis will reward the author as much as she should Jim ! Who doesn't like a nice little hug ?
Well first things first. Death to the Betrayer!!! But now seriously. I think this could be great opportunity to turn this war around. The golgari probably didn't count on running into Mother when attacking the brood chamber as she never appeared in the battlefield. And we know that she is the biggest and possibly the highest level ant in the Colony with physical damage output surpasing even Anthony (I don't consider Gravity bomb physical damage). She might not have much advantage in the field but in a tunnel where golgari can fight in pairs or threes tops and can't use ranged attacks she can wreak havoc. If she can slaughter her way to the other side the Colony can use it to open up a new front with golgari literally stuck between mandible and business district 😁
The betrayal really feels too forced to me. No real foreshadowing. The worm is a coward, not stupid. This arc is already so long and stretched out for no reason... Why add even more crap to the shit show? This novel was my favorite 50 or 100 chapters ago. But now it just feels like other novels where the author as run out of inspiration and is only realising boring chapters because he has to... ლ( ಠ _ ಠ ლ)
I can't fathom why Jim the worm would do this. By attacking the queens his actions will cause the ants to go mad and kill everything that isn't an ant. If he's done this for himself then there are no benefits. He won't get protection from the ants and only caused a powerful ally to turn to an enemy. The rock people can't be trusted as they were going to send him out to fight in the arena. If Jim has done this for the sake of Sarah the bear then the same reasoning as above stands but now the bear will be captured or killed by the rock people. There are no benefits to betraying the ants and only massive personal loses. Does he really think the ants will just forget? Jim will be hunted down. Jim is a stupid worm
