So two things that I want to mention. First. I know it was a joke when it was first mentioned, but I think getting metal eyes or something to boost their defense would probably be a good idea. There will be more and more intelligent monsters as Anthony ventures forward, and with his carapace being perfect, these monsters will attack the eyes. Those big, soft, and important eyes. The second thing is actually a question for y'all. Do you think the wave will actually benefit the colony? Sure it will push back the stone people and the Legion, but creatures from the third strata would come up real quick. With those from the fourth and fifth not far behind I bet. Is the colony ready to defend their queens and brood against things they have no clue about and will pop out under their very feet?
careful what you wish for, Anthony ! Even though I have to admit I wish for it as well. I mean, whi would dent a tin of biomass throwing themselves at them ? Only problem is that biomass will be at least from the third strata, possibly even the fourth, so... maybe not that much weaker than the Legion. The colony needs to master some means to push the mana branches back (like that underground city, Rayleigh or whatever). But rather than the wave, it's those Tree Spawns I am most curious about.
One of the advantages of a formation battle is that hit is homogenous. And the ant side isn't. When the formation isn't homogenous, the enemy can break through at one point and then they disrupt everything. Which leads to the defeat in almost every case. I'm aware that this book comes closer to an actual realistic fight than many other books. But I still wanted to mention it.
