I feel that after this battle, the colony should look into developing gun powder and stuff. And then slowly and slowly get around to electricity. I mean just imagine, the immortals turned into tanks (big turrets on their backs being operated by those healer ants that usually stick to them) and the entire nest lit up with electric lights and ants using elevators. And using sonars and stuff for dungeon exploration.

They should have retrieved at least one armor. It shouldn't be that difficult. The root gets even more interesting.
