(Rei Pov)

'Even though I said that, I have no idea how to defeat that Hydra,' Rei thought while avoiding the Hydra's attacks.

Rei then turned to Djeeta and Katalina, seeing that they were also struggling against the Hydra.

In addition, their weapons couldn't penetrate the Hydra's skin, so they could only dodge and attempt to stab its eyes.

Suddenly, Rei felt a wave of heat approaching him, but because he was distracted, he couldn't avoid it properly and his leg got burned by the Hydra's fire.

"Aghhhhh!" Rei fell after trying to dodge.

"Reiiii!" everyone panicked seeing Rei fall and tried to help him.

*Groooar!*

The Hydra suddenly tried to breathe fire again, preventing Djeeta and Katalina from helping Rei.

"Bweheheh! How utterly pitiful!" Pommern laughed at their pathetic attempt to fight the empire.

"Damn, this is really bad. If this continues, we will all end up burnt to a crisp," Rei tried to get up, but couldn't because of his burned left leg.

If this continues, the Hydra will strike Djeeta and nearly kill her like in the original story, but Rei won't let that happen.

Rei observed the Hydra again and tried to find its weak spot when it attacked Djeeta and Katalina.

'A weak spot, huh? Just looking at it, the whole body of the Hydra seems very tough. My weapon can't penetrate it at all.'

'They didn't explain the Hydra's weak spot at the beginning because the gameplay is turn-based, so Djeeta attacked it normally,' Rei was truly at a loss to find a way to defeat the hydra.

But he knew the only way to defeat it was to have Lyria summon Proto Bahamut, but she didn't use her power at all because of the trauma she experienced during the experiment.

"Rei, are you okay?" Vyrn approached Rei and tried to pull Rei to a safe distance.

"Rei!!!" Lyria also came closer to Rei and helped Vyrn in assisting Rei.

"Lyria... Vyrn, please step back a little, it could be dangerous if you get hit by the hydra's fire," Rei tried to urge them to move away.

"Hahhh, do you think I am afraid of a fire like that? I'm not afraid at all," Vyrn tried to act brave, even though his eyes looked scared.

"Yes, Rei, even though it's dangerous, I will always help friends, and you all helped me before, so I will repay your kindness," Lyria, like Vyrn, tried to act brave, but her trembling body gave away her fear.

'Hahhh, these two....' Rei just give up and let them do their things

Suddenly, a green aura appeared in Lyria's hand as she touched Rei's left leg, and the heat Rei felt slowly disappeared.

"Huh, Lyria? You can heal wounds?" Rei was surprised because he didn't know Lyria could do that before gaining the power of Leviathan.

"Yes, I can heal wounds, but only those that are not too severe," Lyria smiled but remained focused on healing Rei's wounds.

"Wow, you're amazing, Lyria! With this, Rei can continue to help Djeeta and Katalina defeat the hydra," Vyrn was amazed by Lyria's abilities.

After Rei's wounds healed, he immediately stood up and tried to move his left leg.

"Wow, Lyria, I can't feel the pain anymore. Thank you very much. Now, please step back a bit with Vyrn," Rei retrieved his fallen weapon and tried to assist Djeeta and Katalina, who were still not making any progress against the hydra.

"Yeah, defeat that hydra, Rei. Lyria and I will support you from behind," Vyrn pulled Lyria back.

"I'll leave the rest to you, Rei," Lyria also supported Rei and the others.

"Phew," Rei took a deep breath and ran towards the back of that hydra while it was occupied with Djeeta and Katalina.

"Tch, your efforts are in vain. You will not be able to defeat my hydra," Pommern snorted and looked around.

Even if they managed to defeat the hydra, the other surrounding soldiers would defeat them when they get tired after defeating the hydra. So, all their efforts would be in vain.

Rei ran swiftly and jumped onto the hydra's back.

*Groooar!* The hydra sensed something on its back, trying to throw off anyone there.

But before Rei could fall, he jumped towards one of the hydra's heads and attempted to cut it off.

With the momentum he had, Rei managed to cut off one of the heads of the hydra.

*ROAAAARRRRR* The Hydra looked panicked as its head was severed and thrashed around.

"Great job, Rei," Djeeta congratulated Rei.

"Yes, good job, but don't let your guard down before the enemy is defeated," Katalina reminded them both.

"Yes, don't worry, I've experienced that before," remembering how his leg got burned because he was careless.

"Djeeta, Katalina, we need to focus on one spot when attacking the hydra. Do you have a strong technique to penetrate the hydra's tough skin?"

"Let's focus on one spot, then. We'll target the front part, as I believe the hydra's heart is located there," Katalina shared her knowledge about the hydra.

"Alright, then we will attack that spot. Rei, Katalina, are you ready?" Djeeta prepared her stance for her technique.

"Yes, I am ready," Katalina answered, drawing her rapier.

"Even though I don't have any special techniques, I'll distract the hydra," Rei also prepared his sword.

Rei then advanced and tried to distract the attention of the hydra, moving left and right to evade its attacks and create an opening for Djeeta and Katalina.

Meanwhile, Djeeta and Katalina were ready to use their techniques and waited for the opportunity to arise.

"Not yet... not yet," Djeeta murmured, watching Rei and the hydra.

Then Katalina noticed that the four heads of the hydra were focused on Rei and tried to bite him.

"Djeeta, attack now!" Katalina stepped forward, her rapier emitting a blue aura.

"Alright," Djeeta followed Katalina, her sword emitting a green aura.

"Rei, dodge!" Djeeta and Katalina shouted to Rei.

Rei heard this and immediately jumped backward, with Djeeta and Katalina passing on his left and right.

"HYAAAAAHHHHH" 2x

Katalina moved forward first, then repeatedly stabbed the hydra's chest swiftly. The blue aura emanating from Katalina's rapier moved beautifully in sync with her swings.

"Blades of Frost!"

The chest of the hydra started to crack, eventually breaking little by little.

"DJEETA!"

Katalina leaped back, and Djeeta stepped in, slashing the hydra multiple times.

"VORPAL BLADE!"

Like Katalina, a green aura appeared on Djeeta's sword, following her swings. After multiple strikes, Djeeta ended it with a vertical slash, opening the hydra's chest.

"REI!" Djeeta leaped, and Rei stabbed the chest of the hydra.

*GROOOAAAARRRRRRR*

The hydra writhed in pain, attempting to retreat but it was too late as Rei had successfully stabbed its chest.

Even though Rei managed to stab its chest, it seems that the stab was not deep enough because the hydra was still standing and slowly trying to attack.

One of its heads tried to bite Rei.

"REII!" Djeeta, Katalina, Vyrn, and Lyria shouted, trying to urge Rei to dodge.

"Haaaahhhhh" Rei screamed and tried to stab his sword deeper.

Suddenly, Djeeta and Katalina saw a black aura coming out of Rei's body.

Then Rei's sword inside the hydra's body released a laser that pierced the hydra's chest, leaving a hole through hydra body.

"Fuahh" Rei breathed out slowly and stepped back, falling down.

"Rei!" Katalina and Djeeta approached him, followed by Lyria and Vyrn.

"Hah... hah... I'm fine... just... tired," Rei smiled and tried to look at his friends.

"No... this can't be, they defeated the hydra? This can't be!" Pommern was shocked to see his hydra defeated by just 3 people.

"Soldiers, quickly capture them while they are tired," Pommern ordered his soldiers surrounding Rei and the others.

"Hey, hey, can you still fight?" Vyrn panicked seeing many soldiers approaching them.

"Haha... I'm a little tired but I can still fight, how about you Djeeta, Katalina?" Rei tried to get up but his legs trembled and he fell again.

"Ah..." seeing Rei fall, Lyria tried to help him stand up while Djeeta and Katalina started preparing to fight the soldiers to create an opening for them to escape.

"Don't worry Rei, leave it to us, you just rest, and you can't really fight without weapon, Look your sword already break" Djeeta smiled slightly, although she knew she was very tired.

Rei sword break after he's using that laser attack accidentally and he's wondering how he manage to do that

"Yes, Djeeta's right, leave the rest to us, Rei, you just rest," Katalina stood up and looked around them.

"Hahahaha... look at you pretending to be strong like that, do you think we don't know that your stamina is running out?" Pommern laughed at their condition.

The soldiers around them just made mocking sounds as if teasing Djeeta and the others.

But before the soldiers could attack them, suddenly everyone there felt a chilling sensation.

"!!!!!" Rei felt his body trembling.

'What is this? What aura is this? This aura is very dark and evil,' Rei looked around, trying to find the source of the aura.

"Everyone, look at the dragon!" Lyria screamed and pointed towards the hydra's corpse, but they didn't see the hydra's body. Instead, they saw the hydra emitting a black aura, waking up and its eyes glowing bright red as it looked at all of them.

"GROAAAAARRRRR"

"Kyaaaaaaa!" "Uaghhhhhhh!"

Everyone panicked and covered their ears from the roaring sound.

"Hahahahaha, I knew it, the hydra couldn't have been defeated by them," Pommern shouted gleefully.

"Hydra! Kill them all and burn down this forest."

But instead of obeying Pommern's command, the hydra chose to attack them all.

"GROOOAAAAARRRR"

"Everyone, get out of the way!" Vyrn shouted and flew away.

But before they all could get away, one of the hydra's claws aimed towards Djeeta.

"Djeeta, watch out!" Rei shouted towards Djeeta.

Djeeta, who couldn't dodge in time, closed her eyes and protected her face, but she didn't feel the pain she expected.

"REIIIII!" Suddenly, Lyria's voice was heard, and Djeeta opened her eyes in surprise to see Rei protecting her.

"Damn... I didn't expect getting clawed by the hydra to hurt so much," Rei stated the obvious before starting to fall.

"Rei!" But before Rei could fall, Djeeta caught his body and laid him down on the grass.

"Bweheheh! How utterly pitiful!" Pommern, seeing Rei fall, began to mock them, but before he could continue, he was disturbed by the hydra attacking him.

"Tch... soldiers, deal with that hydra quickly!" Pommern ordered the other soldiers.

"Alright! Everyone, shoot and prepare your halberds!" one of the soldiers commanded the others.

"An innocent civilian, and a child at that... Pommern! Just how far have you fallen!" Katalina tightly clenched her rapier, her fist clinched so hard that some blood dripped.

"Rei, Rei, why did you protect me?" Djeeta started crying, seeing Rei's severe condition with deep claw marks on his chest and blood flowing continuously.

"Why? That's true... why did I save you, who's always careless and acts without thinking first," Rei laughed slightly but stopped because his chest hurt when he laughed.

Djeeta, seeing this, became even sadder, and tears streamed down her face.

"Hey, Rei! Stop kidding around! Stop talking. Lyria can heal you! You'll be fixed like before," Vyrn came and tried to give hope to Rei.

But Lyria, who had been focused on trying to heal Rei's wounds, didn't really change the situation because her powers weren't very effective for such deep wounds.

"That's enough, Lyria, don't waste your stamina," Rei looked at Lyria, who was focused on his wounds.

"You were the one who said you can't heal severe wounds like this."

Rei wanted to stroke Lyria and Djeeta head who was still crying, but he began to lose consciousness, and everything turned dark.

(Lyria POV)

I see Rei growing weaker and still trying to open his eyes.

My heart aches as I see Rei slowly losing the light in his eyes. When I look at Djeeta, I see her crying while holding Rei and Vyrn pulling Rei's hair, trying to keep him conscious.

"Everything's... all right..." Lyria murmurs, and the crystal around her neck starts to glow.

"Lyria!... The necklace you're wearing is starting to emit light... what are you doing Lyria?" Vyrn sees the light on Lyria's neck getting brighter and brighter.

Djeeta, crying, starts to open her eyes and sees Lyria, but she can't fully open her eyes because of the light.

"Don't worry now..."

"Rei... I bestow my power to you!"

(3rd PoV)

In a dark place, someone is seen floating. Upon closer inspection, the person has white hair and blue eyes.

That person is Rei, floating within his consciousness.

'I can't feel my body at all.... but this is very comfortable... is this how it feels to die?' Rei wonders in his mind.

"PATHETIC."

Suddenly, Rei hears someone's voice but he is unable to open his eyes at all.

"I never expected you mortal to die before my plans began," the voice taunts Rei with a condescending tone.

"Tch, There's no other way."

"Be proud, mortal. I will lend you my power."

Suddenly, Rei feels his body filling with energy and power, realizing that he will soon awaken.

But before he fully regains consciousness, he manages to open his eyes slightly and sees the person speaking to him.

"That... white hair... 12 black wings... Lucilius!" Rei is shocked to see the person, but before he can speak, he finds himself back in the real world.

(Lyria POV)

Lyria closes her eyes and tries to focus with the energy within her body.

She senses Rei's life force diminishing and tries to connect her soul with his.

"Lyria, what are you doing?" Djeeta shields her eyes and asks Lyria what she is doing.

Lyria opens her eyes and they starting to glowing blue. "I will try to save Rei."

"Save Rei? Can you do that, Lyria? If so, please do it quickly, Rei is getting paler by the minute," Vyrn is surprised to hear that Rei can still be saved.

"Yes, then both of you step back, I will do it," Lyria's hand tries to touch Rei's chest.

But before she can touch his chest, Rei's body suddenly emits black energy.

"This!" Djeeta is shocked as she remembers seeing this energy when Rei killed the Hydra before.

"Ahhhhhhhh"

"Uaaaahhhhhh"

"Kyaaaaaaa"

The three of them are thrown back by the powerful gust of wind.

Suddenly, Rei's body starts to move and slowly stands up.

"This...." Lyria is shocked to see Rei's aura feeling evil and dark.

It feels completely different from when Rei hugged her before.

"Rei!" Djeeta and Vyrn scream, calling out to Rei.

"You Mortals...."

Suddenly, the three of them hear Rei's voice, but it sounds different than usual.

"Truly Powerless."

*Rei* suddenly laughs, and two black wings emerge from his back.

"HAHAHAHAHAHA"
