18. Power of healing (a wee bit gory)

Azeroth felt shiver in his body as this divine trinket came into contact with his hand. Meanwhile Karis was surprised of the beauty and visible frailness of the box, she could smell sweet scent coming from the smoke that filled her lungs and made her feel good, like there were no worries, no trauma biting into her nothing just happy positive thoughts, maybe a slight craving for a cake.

-How do i use it?,- she chuckled looking at it from other sides not moving Azeroth's fingers from it.

-Try opening it?- he felt clueless as he never tight he will ever encounter one.

Karis moved the lid a bit and white smoke flowed out filling their both nostrils. For Karis it felt like taking all antidepressants at once for maximum effect, it didn't made her high, but made her happy with a promise to not go back. She could feel smoke creeping up her back, releasing tensed muscles, even fixing her posture to a degree, pressure on her neck was gone. She felt sharp heat coming through her cheeks as her redness of face treated itself. Yet for Azeroth this experience was different.

Since he was a demon, holy censer smoke wasnt as gentle for him. Demon felt pain as smoke crept up into his nostril and hit his eyes like washing with boiling water, he winced in pain covering his face and let out blood curling scream. It felt like something is scratching his eyes with glass, blood started coming like tears and gushed trough fingers.

This freaked out Karis, she quickly bashed trinket back into her heart causing it to disappear, yet smoke lingered for a moment.

-Azeroth what happened? Did i do something wrong?- fear pushed out happy calm feelings created by smoke as demon clearly suffered. She started thinking, what if this holy trinket will banish him or something, he was a demon after all.

-Its...ok...ok...it...hurts so bad,- he winced through clenched teeth to keep in the pain and scream.

He moved away his hands trying to open his eyes but more blood just gushed out of them, Karis could see that his eyes now looked like a broken glass, Ghost appeared with napkin giving it to Karis who started frantically and very carefully clean off blood.

She had medical background, she saw and touched it so many times in her life, but now her hands went cold, started to shake as it was person who she cared about that was bleeding through his eyes. It was gushing so much, young woman had no time to think as soon her clothes and hands were drenched in it.

-Oh god am so sorry, what have i done,- she started crying and panicking, not realizing that blood was stopping slowly.

As demons eyes looked like broken glass, once the smoke finished purifying the curse and disease he had, the vision started to repair itself. The broken peace's started merging together and demons vision changed.

Before he saw all back with everyone's aura glowing in their chest, making it look like he was around floating lights.

As smoke made its way through his eyes, the colours and shapes started to appear, at first it was more black and grey, then shades of blue and green started making their way in, he could see shape of Karis in front, shape of what was Ghost by her side, shape of trees and landscape. Soon they became more detailed and visual. With his demonic eyes he didn't need too much light to see vividly. The scenery was breath taking, lake by the side, forest by the order side, a meadow full of last flowers, there were few animals in further trees getting ready to depart on night hunt, he could tell there were at least 3 ant houses within few kilometres, nature was still flourishing, but it didn't mesmerize him.

It was Karis that took his all attention. As human he didn't notice these details, but her eyes were blue, and in moonlight they looked even white. There was a scar under her right eye, barely visible but a red line. Her dyed hair was now growing out and ash coloured roots were peeking through. Her face smooth and skin was glowing. There were few birthmarks and skintags on her neck, the one he liked the most in the dimple on the bottom of her neck.

She was now covered in his blood and looked at him petrified. Demon looked at his hands and then smiled, a laughter of relief escaped his chest as finally, first time in so long, the world wasnt just darkness with light orbs. Human vision he had couldn't compare with what he saw now and he couldn't have been happier.

-You are so beautiful,- he said focusing on her. He was so mesmerized he didn't even notice her frowning.

-Stop it, i didn't just treat you to give the most generic compliment ever. We need to go home now,- she stood up looking into her clothes, she needed to soak them, or else they will be ruined for good.

Karis never really paid attention to her feelings of how her body felt, but now she noticed that when she let go of her worries to him, she felt good and light, when she used censer she felt so warm, but now, she felt icy, her heart closed again. She felt really disappointed at his compliment and selection of words. She tried her best, she stressed out, and all she did get as a short compliment. Not even a thank you.

But Azeroth was too busy looking around, she didn't want to disturb his happiness and once they were home she let him be while she tried her best to save her outfit from binning. Besides, what if her grandma will see it and will get heart attack thinking someone attacked her, it did looked so messy.

-Karis, you are brilliant, thank you so much,- he came into bathroom where she was scrubbing blood of her clothes in cold water, it did make her cringe again.

-Well at least you thanked me now. Make us some tea,- she smiled getting a little bit calmer from her anger. It will all depend on next few hours that will probably determine how her heart will sit. She had to admit, his presence did made her feel safe, but lack of actual flame made her worried. Now that he is healthy, the romance they had will definitely plummet.

-Do you think i could make my grandma feel better?- she finally said leaving bathroom when her hands were numb from cold water and wrinkly. Azeroth looked at her with big and bright smile and pulled her by her hips close to himself into a hug.

-You can, You can do anything you wish with this power as long as we can settle my mother's issue then everything will be great. But we will need all the help we can get from minor gods. Many of them are crystalized and might need your input to revive them,- his tone was serious even if his hands were softly caressing her back giving soft scratches that send shivers down her spine which she enjoyed so much.

-I cant promise i will do this fast, i still need to stick to my work balance as i feel like i am falling a bit behind. I used to work a lot more, and now with this whole demon mess around i am not as efficient as i used to be,- she sighed trusting him to let her worries out.

-Cant it wait? You need to save the world.

-You demons don't get it don't you? I save world and what's after? I will still need my job to pay my bills as no one will know that it was me that saved everyone from hell knows what plague that has happened,-she frowned and Azeroth finally realized struggles of mortal life.

-Let me know if there is anything i can help you with,- he looked at Karis while she stroked his hair still standing in his embrace.

-Keep me safe, i have a bad feeling things will only go downwards from this,- they noticed another contract chain forming on his wrist. This poor demon was chained so much, that there was no way of him to do anything he shouldn't be doing without becoming the betrayer. Yet he didn't want to feel anymore pain like last time,- As for me, i will learn to use my censer and we can see how many minor gods can we awake to help us, since i wont be directly joining war,- Demon prince nodded. He knew that fragile human would never match horror that will probably get unleashed.

-And about my unholy weapon? How can we summon it?- she pondered freeing herself from his hands and sitting down to drink her beverage.

-From what i know, you need to trust me. Do you trust me?- Azeroth looked at her as she pulled out her laptop and started working. Karis looked from top of the screen at him like he just asked the most dumbest thing.

-I just healed your vision, i think i do,- he chuckled feeling some sort of relief.

That night Azeroth and Ghost had quite a bit of things to do. Ghost showed him how to use mirror, helped him navigate around, like it was his first time he was in the house. Proudly showed the garden he tended all these years so relentlessly. Bunny was hopping from side to side bouncing around showing him everything he already seen as a human, but with demonic vision he knew more what was going around. He was finally whole, finally he can unleash his full power and there will be no more setbacks.
