Chapter 12: farewells and marketplaces ( 1/2 )
'This should be enough…' ryuma said to himself while packing what seems to bet unique shaped items and a small amount of clothes
This is the result of two days ago, where he rolled for clothes and accessories to obtain powerful ones to boost his strength
Of course he has so much more stored in his inventory, but it'd be a tiny bit suspicious if he didn't have something along with him after his temporary stay at the baiju guesthouse.
It was time for him to leave, as he rented a room for 2 days. And he was thankful for the recommendation from xie shen
The baiju guesthouse was mostly forgotten by players due to it not being involved in any plot in the story, so he would forget this place quite quickly if not for his new-buddy pointing it out to him
Speaking of xie shen… he hasn't seen him in the past 2 days, causing massive concern for ryuma as he thought he would be permanently stuck with him
He read somewhere that once a spirit gets their unaccomplished goal fulfilled, they are able to pass on in peace. But he wasn't really sure about it as he never paid attention for anything like these
So maybe, the latter granted the former's wish. Causing him to pass on in peace. Making it a peaceful thought
If not, then ryuma assumed that the system did something weird and didn't tell him again. It didn't inform him of xie shen's presence in his mind until he said it to Ryuma upfront.
He'll stick to the first theory, as it seems more plausible and comforting then the second.
Going back to his current state, he finished packing everything he needed. So he went to look for the 4 star clothing he recently got, he did say that he would wear this afterall.

'This should be the exit…' as ryuma was nearing the exit, he saw a familiar face of a woman in a maid costume. 'Hold on…'
'Isn't that… Xin yi?'
After reaching her line of sight, she noticed his approaching figure. So she hurried up to him, holding something behind her back
"Ah! Xie shen! I assume that you're leaving, correct?" She quickly asked him
"Yeah, I needed a place to temporary stay at so i can get ready to travel to mondstadt. And this place was quite the excellent choice" he gave her a honest review of his stay at the baiju guesthouse.
Aside the day he worked as a chef, it reminded him of the usual apartments you rent while on vacation. They were not the best but were really comfortable and relaxed during your stay
"I see, thats great to hear! We usually try to offer our guests the best experience we could give, so a positive review for our deeds is highly appreciated!" She cherished his opinion, not many people get enlightened with their service as the guesthouse was in a bad state before they improved and adapted into a far more better place
Low amount of employees, overly-expensive rent and bad service to customers. Causing them a bad reputation throughout liyue harbor
"And about your temporary work of a chef for us, on behalf of the baiju guesthouse, please take this gift to congratulation in solving some of their problems!" She handed him a red medium-sized box in gratitude. While bowing, of course.
"This… is a gift? What have i done to deserve one?" Ryuma asked her and showed a genuine expression of surprise at the action. He only worked there for a day, surely he hadn't done anything big to them, right?
She stopped bowing and scratched her head "Well you see… after you helped with lunchtime, the guests began approving and praising us. And those praises began to spread around a part of liyue harbor, causing more guests coming in at dinnertime. Earning us more mora of course.
After dinnertime. some of the guests explored and discovered that the baiju guesthouse are fit for their stay, Causing them to send applications for temporary visits. And its all because of you!" She informed him of his deeds, he was the main reason they began succeeding in attaining more visitors. Giving them the chance to redeem theirselves
" … " the man was too stunned to speak
'I swear I've seen this before, its usual mc saving the yatta yatta place and being rewarded for it cliche!' Ryuma pointed out, he watched to many anime and shows that it became second nature for him to point out the obvious
After the heroes or whoever gets the offer to accept the gift, they always refuse it for no damn reason. It really frustrated him, just accept the offer! They're giving it to you for free!
Putting that aside. He wholeheartedly took the gift from her hands, he'll open this later when he is on his journey to mondstadt "you flatter me, xin yi. I was just doing my job. I never expected it to cause this much of a ruckus, although I wouldn't refuse your generous offer." He congratulated her with a smile, accidentally letting his humble side leaking out
As xin yi was listening to his words, she was reminded of something important "shoot, i have people to serve! Im sorry I couldn't keep this interaction longer, i cant slack off my job after all." She quickly told him, beginning to rush into the hall
She suddenly stopped and looked back at him "i wish you luck on your journey! If you ever come back at liyue, consider visiting us!" She sent a warm smile before rushing back to a room
Ryuma stared at her retreating figure, it seems that there was something lingering in his mind
'Its the first time a girl actually smiled at me…'

After what transpired before his leave, ryuma thought of an idea he came across
He's really relying on ingredients bought from the system, buying it with chef points to taste the food he had in old world.
Since he planned on opening a restaurant for himself, it may cause a disaster to him as he'd probably need to cook food from this world to feed his future customers.
And not learning how to cook those in his decided way may bite him in the rear end despite them being similar to his old planet, earth.
And even if he managed to rely on the system for the ingredients for his restaurant, he'll lose on some chef points as he continues to buy for the far future. And since he gets them from his system and not from any specific place that offers ingredients, it may cause him to get questioned…
He recalled that liyue had a marketplace for almost everything available, so he could buy a huge ton of each vegetable, meat and fruit on his way to mondstadt. And learning how to utilize them will get rid of the problem of learning how to cook the unique fruits this world has to offer
He also doesn't have to worry about where to place them as he was blessed with the inventory, Thought he'll try to hide it as much as he can as to not get deemed suspicious.
He wasn't sure that anyone other than the traveller had a inventory
Accepting his final decision, he began walking to the direction of the marketplace.

There weren't many places to buy in this spot, but there was enough to buy small amounts of things he needed
Out of all the stands, he saw one selling fruits in particular.
This led ryuma into approaching it, starting off with fruits was a good option.
It consisted of the obvious ones like: berrys, apples and sunsettias. While having unique fruits from sumeru
The owner of the stand noticed Ryuma approaching his fruit stand, so he prepared for business
"Welcome my dear customer! Which fruit or fruits will you buy for today? I, of course. have fruits originated from sumeru. This may be the one time you taste a fruit from our neighboring nation!" The food merchant said confidentiality
The classic 'once in a lifetime' trick always made his customers rush their decision and buy it for more mora than they were supposed to pay for.
Its no surprise that some lying merchants will probably scam you for a couple of mora,
This was a known fact for ryuma, so he's already experienced with these types of sellers.
"Oh really? What's the fruit callled?" Ryuma questioned the merchant, he already knows what those fruits are. He usually gets them when exploring sumeru
"Im glad you asked!" The merchant said in a positive mood as he grabbed a pinkish fruit "this is the zaytun peach, its flesh is firm and sweet! And it was also rumored that it has a calming effect on the mind" he described the fruit he's holding. Over-exaggerating the description of the fruit
He then left it in box next to his stand and grabbed a fruit that had red… scales? Leaves? And the top had a green texture "this is the harra fruit, its a fruit which has a spicy taste and aroma. when grounded into powder, it can be made into spices. Making it the most valuable spice plant to sumeru!" The merchant also said positively
As you can see, he's trying to hype it up so he has a reason to raise the price to earn extra mora.
"I see… do you also have sunsettias?" Ryuma questioned once again
"Heh? Sunsettias? Of course… they're the most common fruit you could find. Are you looking to buy some?" The merchant's almost positive mood was replaced by a confused state
Theres no way he could ignore sumeru's specialty and buy the most common fruit you could find, right?
And he was right.
"Alright then… ill take 20 zaytun peaches… 38 harra fruits… and 50 sunsettias please." Ryuma told him, he knew that sunsettias were gonna be sold way cheaper than the 'legendary' sumeru fruits this merchant is selling
"I-i see… you look like your gonna have a field day with that amount! Let me prepare them for you" the merchant informed him, beginning to pack Ryuma's order

A couple of seconds later…

After finishing, he gave ryuma a large box containing the fruits we wanted "that'll be 26000 mora, please!" The merchant took his hand out and smiled with hidden intentions
This is the start of his scamming, it actually costed a bit less than what he just told.
But of course, ryuma wasn't dumb enough to get fooled to pay way more than what he's supposed to.
"I dont think it costs that much, lower the price and ill pay." Ryuma stated. As a chef, he knew how to bargain for anything. So the skills of his old world didn't turn out useless afterall
The merchant gained a tic Mark on his forehead "excuse me? That's the cost of what you asked! Pay or you could simply leave!" He said with the slight hint of anger
"Alright then, farewell." He waved his hand and began to walk away
The merchant was caught by surprise, he reached his hand out "you- OKAY FINE! I'll lower it!" He yelled out, gaining ryuma's curiosity back
Ryuma stopped walking away and approached the stand again "im glad you are so understanding, how much are you willing to decrease?"
"25000 mora."
"Lower."
"24000 mora..?"
"Little lower…"
The merchant grunted "OKAY OKAY! 22000 mora! Thats the lowest i can do!" He decreased his price by a whopping 4000 mora, earning the satisfaction of ryuma
Ryuma smiled and reached into his pocket, extracted his mora from the system in a pouch,
[ 24,000 mora has been extracted. ]
took the pouch of mora out of his pocket and offered it to the scamming merchant "Alright, here you go"
"Just where did you learn how to bargain like this…"The latter took it aggressively and handed the box of fruit.
The former took the box happily and told the latter "my source of how to bargain? I could say that i made it up"
He walked away while winking at the angry merchant
"That went well!"
