My 2.8 stars is not given for the novel itself but for the translation quality. Henyee Translations has picked up a lot of novels, and while I appreciate the effort, THE QUALITY OF THE NOVEL HAS BEEN AFFECTED. I'm not sure about others, but it greatly affects my enjoyment of a novel when I have to constantly re-word and correct grammar in my head. It wouldn't be such a big deal if the grammar quality was bad from the beginning, because I would just not start the novel (like it is with some translation projects and a majority of the original stories I have tried). However, some of these novels were translated with good English before; but after moving to webnovels or being picked up by Henyee translations, the quality of the translated English has drastically decreased, even to the point of affecting my understanding and enjoyment of the plot. Henyee Translations is not alone in this, but I am talking about them specifically because a few of the novels I used to read have been taken over/picked up by them. So Webnovels, Henyee translations, and other translation groups, although I appreciate your efforts, since we are being charged so much for reading these translations, I think the least we readers deserve is more effort going into providing quality English syntax, grammar, and plot clarity. Thank you.

At the beginning the novel is good... Side characters are smart enough not to judge MC too quickly before tasting his food. And then suddenly all his competitors became dumb. "Just because it's smell good doesn't meant is taste good" it's what his competitors says. 1 of them said that one time? Sure, no problem. But nah they repeat that line every single damn time if given the chance. "What? Mammy Restaurant Chef cooked for the king once? No way He's better than me who can't even qualify as a chef in the Royal capital." "What? He cooked for the King and win the best dish of the day? No way its Inferior to my Roasted chicken that cooked by yours truly." "He's must be cheating the ranking board by bribing the staff with money! No way he's doing that with pure skill!" "He's was praised by the King for his delicious dish? He's a nobody compared to me who the city lord doesn't even know. Lets kill him!!" "The girl I have a crush on won't look at me because she secretly likes him? This guy must have seduced her! What a scumbag!" Stupid side character just won't stop flipping their gum. A wholesome cooking Novel with daughter became your generic Face sapping novel.
