This something that deserves attention for the following 1- Realism, while being in the fantasy genre this novels shows the complexity of politics in a feudal period, with such living characters and genuine moments of interaction between them it is hard to not get captivated on the momentum that the author creates... he is really good at drama, **ichology and sociology. 2- Lively world, the plot of this is actually something that flows to the point where even when Thales himself is not aware of it, its scale is big and complex, its hard to know who to trust, who is the one behind the scenes all along. Not only Thales is learning step by step about himself but also his family's history and the dangers that lurk from the Battle of Erradication, making for a very satisfying battle of wits, superation and perseverance, with the right amount of that Lord of Mysteries suspense to add tot the climax. 3- The characters, man how I love every character presented in this, they ALL have complex backstories, from a simple bandit leader to a bartender, they all have motives, moral compass, romance, resentment, tragedies and all that stuff that could make them protagonists by themselves. 4- Pacing, at the start you get quickly introduced to the pacing of this novel, it presents your characters, their situations and throws them into action, making them have to be dynamic and adapting at fast and breath taking speeds, the building of ******* to the climax feel very nice and are a very good reward to the patient reader.
