Typical cardboard MC for your middle school readers to self insert in. I can't decide which is worse, cardboard MCs or "righteous" MCs. I guess people voted for this because it sounds similar to another popular novel but look at what we got, Lord Xue Ying didn't die for this.

It isn't really though when it's someone from a foreign planet who is just beginning to get accustomed to the new world. The mc is likely to have A change in morality, as all cultivation worlds function on the law of the jungle, opposite to the modern day society on Earth.

I agree, but I dont know if the author is good enough to take that into account. Most chinese novels dont show alot of character growth. They always remain the same or change very little.

In Lord Xue Ying for the first 15 chapters, MC is well revealed by the author. We are described by him from all sides and allowed to become attached to him. In this story everything is patterned to the maximum, how many similar novels were there before this? The only attempt to change something in these patterned plot was in Dark King

LXY was good then bad. People read cultivation novels because they like it. But there are still bad novels and good novels out there. This is an example of bad and Er Gen novel is example of good. I have tried reading all of Er Gen’s novels but didn’t enjoy any of them. I quite like this novel because of the relatively interesting cultivation realms, as well as the world building and discoveries about the history of the world.

100% true. If you look into Er Gan Novel "A Will Eternal" the main character, Bai Xiaochen" is pretty annoying in the beginning with his cowardly self. However, as the story progresses, the character mindset changes as he realizes the his way of doing things will get him and his companions killed in the cultivation world. Atleast read half of the store to realize the true protagonist mentality. Also, another story would be "Sage Monarch" that got underestimated because of the MC arrogance at the beginning.
