--- Ultimate Scheming System is indeed quite an engaging novel. However, it does suffer from a huge flaw overall, one made more apparent in the recent releases. Overall, the MC seems content to travel the world and "act tough" at the system's whims. He is such a good match for the system that I occasionally find myself doubting whether or not he has his own personality- it's as if he's merely a vessel that the system operates, adding a touch of irony because the system is supposed to be *his* possession. (Nevertheless, at least his character and the personalities of those around him do not fluctuate spontaneously...) Regardless, as you catch up to the latest chapters, I beseech you; don't forget that these humorous adventures are supposed to have a purpose- resurrecting the life of the villager girl. I'll bet *one* spirit stone that no reader caught up to the recent chapters (who didn't binge read) can recall her name, and therein lies the issue. The overall progression of the novel is being sacrificed for these subplots. As a concession, the MC has indeed established connections with both Fire and Water Country- via the princess and Empress, respectively- but that is merely minimal progression when you take into consideration the fact that the MC has yet to explore even a *single* ancient ground. The cycle that the story has chased itself into detracts from the enjoyable aspects through pure, incessant monotony. _ 1) Encounter some difficulty. 2) Convenient antagonist looks down on MC. 2.5) Inherently antagonistic bystanders conveniently underestimate and smear MC. 3) MC acts tough (whole premise of novel)- everyone feels a little awe before returning to booing. 4) MC unveils some of his power; antagonist concedes a little, but proceeds to condemn some other aspect of MC. 4.9) MC unveils some of his power; antagonist concedes a little, but proceeds to condemn some other aspect of MC. 4.99) MC unveils some of his power; antagonist concedes a little, but proceeds to condemn some other aspect of MC. 4.999) MC unveils some of his power; antagonist concedes a little, but proceeds to condemn some other aspect of MC. . . . 5) Inherently negative public opinion shifts in favor of MC; antagonist is forgotten. _ The cycle above is actually relatively enjoyable... but the last arc has killed it through overuse. In this "demonic human" arc, how many times has it occurred already? Additionally, the length of these iterations must also be taken into account- after one long series of **Tribulation** chapters, we're getting another consecutive iteration through **Beast King** chapters. Personally, I feel this kind of repetition- as executed in this recent arc- is utterly irrelevant. We already know the MC is strong- thus, we want to know *how* he is strong, *how* his wacky methods are implemented, and *how* the world within the pages reacts. What we do not need are long chains of dialogue and arrogant boasting or condemnation from both sides trying to set up a fight and establish [t e n s i o n]- the story is structured so that such a feature is *innate*, established through the readers' anticipation. In essence, I guess it boils down to how often such a method is used. The cycle itself is enjoyable, but when it is grossly overused, as it is currently, it degrades to sheer redundancy, and don't forget: "Redundancy is a Scam." ***I must leave a parting note(opinion) though, since I've frequently seen debates arise over this issue. Yes, some novels are overrated, and yes, they can simultaneously be enjoyable. Does "enjoyable" equate to "a good novel"? Not necessarily, and most definitely not for my standards. Then again, there are also the novels that fail both conditions. In conclusion... Yes, this novel may deserve a ranking higher than 18. And- No, Monster Paradise should not be ranked 2nd. Nor 3rd, 4th, and- Heaven forbid- 1st. ---

Indeed... I just saw Xiao Rou’s name mentioned in the newest batch release (chapter 163)- the first time in a while. It saved me the trouble of digging through the past arcs. As for Monster Paradise... I’ll just take a gander and guess that the inconsistencies have torn the story asunder, to the extent where even the desire for wish-fulfillment can’t cover the mutilated plot progression... haven’t read since my review on it, though, so I could be dead wrong. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Question, how is this legal? Isn't this fanfiction? How is the author making money off of this?
