The first 500 chapters were unique and very interesting... It went downhill with the introduction of Heavenly Court... Even with an injured Fate Gu and Rank 8s' at the end of their lives they still managed to suppress other courts... Also it was like their Rank 7s' & 8s' were the only powerful geniuses... They could suppress their equals even when suppressed in other continents but they never tried to rule the world... They just sticked to one continent... That did not make sense as it did not align with the views and morals of the Heavenly court... And those Rank 7s' & 8s' of the Heavenly Court just kept sprouting everywhere and whenever needed even when it was said it is hard to advance to Rand 7 & 8...

For a mystery thats about why they are insanely powerful that started around the early hundreds chapters to be revealed close to the end is not actually part of good story writing... It detaches from the story by making it feel like the author is dragging on the mystery for too long... A mystery in fantasy type novel that takes too long to be solved but is also not the main plot but is influencial takes the sting out of the novel... Nobody is going to just say this mystery is so interesting let me wait for 2000 chapters to solve even mystery novels do not do that....

*SPOILERS* first of all the why there are many rank 8 geniuses is not explained in 2000+ and as for why all of them are geniuses and are numerous it actually is very normal and it's because they have a 3 800 000 years + foundations where every rank 8 (which only special or powerful rank 8 are ellegible to enter the court) that is approaching his limits will hand over his gu worms and go to slumber in a space specially created for them to slumber and the reason why they do not rule the other regions is simply because first the regional walls where the more powerful you are the more restricted in traveling to another continent and secondly the other regions are powerful and if attacked by a more powerfull enemy they will unit and even if they won not only will it be an empty victory with gains farrr below the worth but also the other regions will either unit to attack them or steal or destroy the resourse and sects on the central continent as they will fear they will be next and as they say "the nail that sticks out gets hammered first"

So the other continents see that the sect is a good idea to get more powerful but never try to copy it even to some extent... They stick to the clan system which they can see is outdated while they watch the other continet get powerful... Thats a major plot hole... Plus we know human always copy each other...

I read close to 1700 chapters before giving up just couldn't get through and it wasn't explained then... 1700 chapters is still too much to not explain such a main plot point that influences the novel... Thats why there are arcs so that plot points can be identified even clues help along the way... When you leave it for a long time by the time you explain it will just feel like an information dump or something you forgot to explain... Especially since the vassal sects & Heavenly court have been trying to kill Fang Yuan for so long...

would you let a stranger take over the clan that your ancestors spend thousand old years developing?, let their blood and tears be wasted because of your decisions of establishing a sect system? it's like giving your parents inheritance to a stranger and those in power might oppress your blood relatives and family leading to your decline. its like royalties it doesn't matter even if it benefits the people as long as it threatens their position its not an option. establishing a sect system is just plain stup*d, if someone does try to the other clans will unite to destroy them if they rise in power and break the balance. as the saying goes "the tress that grows to fast and tall will be the first to be destroyed by the wind'.
